Every year around November, I start craving cheesy Christmas movies again. For years, I'd scour YouTube for full length (and probably less than legal) uploads and record every movie that was shown on television. Now with streaming and the ever growing popularity of the genre, things are starting to become a little more overwhelming. There is so much to choose from and to be truthful, their quality... it varies.
So today I'm sharing with you my list of my absolute favorite cheesy Christmas movies. These are the movies that kept me interested all the way through and had something to set them apart from the rest for me. I hope it can function as a sort of starter kit for anyone wanting to add some cheese to their Christmas season or just an inspiring list of what older movies to check out for seasoned Hallmark/Lifetime watchers!
I'll be updating this list whenever I see another movie that deserves a spot on there! If you have any recommendations for me, please share them in the comments!

1. A Biltmore Christmas (Hallmark)
Lucy Hardgrove is a screenwriter trying to write a remake of an old, beloved Christmas movie. When she visits the set, a mysterious hourglass sends her to 1946. Suddenly, she finds herself on the set of the movie she is trying to write a remake of! Hallmark really went all out with the set and costume design of this movie. It's so classically Christmas! And even though the plot is what you can expect from a Hallmark Christmas movie, I think even non-cheesy movie fans could enjoy this one!
2. Christmas at the Plaza (Hallmark)
Jessica is an archival historian hired to create an exhibition showcasing the history of Christmas at the famous hotel in New York, The Plaza. Doesn't that just sound like the best job ever? I don't think I have ever been more jealous of a Hallmark character. But it get's better. She get's paired up with Nick, the super handsome decorator who was hired to bring the Christmas spirit to the Plaza this year. I know, I know. What could possibly happen next?
3. Christmas around the Corner (Lifetime)
Claire is your classic workaholic who needs a trip away during Christmas to find some peace. She rents a cottage in a small town in Vermont (the coziest state in the USA, based on my Instagram feed as well as this movie). The twist? Guests of the cottage are expected to run the bookstore on the main floor. Can Claire revitalize the local bookstore, even when the universe seems to be against her? This movie has a lovely small town cast of welcoming, wholesome characters for the ultimate Christmas vibes!
4. With Love, Christmas (Hallmark)
What brings people together during Christmas? Advertising of course! Just kidding. But that is what happens to the main characters in this movie. They work at an advertising agency and are forced to team up for a Christmas campaign. She loves Christmas, but he doesn't, how will they produce the great campaign they need to further their careers? They have also gotten each other as their office secret Santa, further complicating their Christmas season. The actors have great chemistry and the movie has several super Christmassy, small town sets!
5. The Mistletoe Promise (Hallmark)
Christmas isn't a walk in the park for everyone, and it's not for our two main characters Elise and Nick. Elise is stuck dealing with her ex husband as her business partner while Nick is up for a promotion as a family lawyer, but a single person has never been promoted by the firm. So, they decide to fake date their way through the holiday season. But while they go through the motions of Christmas, it becomes harder and harder to keep to the rules of the contract... I really liked how the characters had a little bit more complexity and growth to them than your average Hallmark movie and the main actors are a delight to watch!
6. A Sweet Christmas Romance (Lifetime)
Mrs. Rose, who runs a small town bakery, (played by Loretta Devine, who also played Adele in Grey's Anatomy), is retiring. Holly, a food stylist who has loved the bakery forever and worked there as a teen, enters the race. But local pastry chef Brad is just as motivated to win the bakery. I loved all the baking scenes, the lovely chemistry between the actors and the really great supporting cast. Also, the set design was so warm and Christmassy, even if you don't pay any attention to the plot, it's still a great Christmas watch just based on vibes alone!
Like I said, more movies will be added to this list for sure. But if you are looking for more recommendations on what to watch this Christmas, you can click here for a list of all my favorite, cosy, feelgood Christmas movies!
